THIS MONTH’S ALBUMS
ALBUM #1: Lexa Gates - Elite Vessel
This album, in our opinion, is R&B perfection. Lexa’s flow is like no other. Recorded from her bedroom in New York, this album goes through themes of love, heartbreak, and growing pains. Lexa’s flow is like no other; her unique style keeps listeners captivated while still being true to herself.
Favorite Track - I Just Can’t Be Alone (with Billie Lemos)
ALBUM #2: Rachel Chinouriri - What A Devastating Turn of Events
This album is such a powerful way to lead off Rachel Chinouriri’s career. This debut album has hints of rock and hip-hop, and while new to the game, Rachel pulls off these different genres beautifully.
Favorite Track - Never Need Me
ALBUM #3: Local Natives - Time Will Wait For No One But I’ll Wait For You
An extension of “Time Will Wait For No One” by the Local Natives, this indie rock band captured amazing storytelling and instrumentals. While it’s much calmer than “Time Will Wait For No One”, we enjoyed every song on here! It was pleasing to the ear, and the lyrics and theme were carefully created, the way true art is.
Favorite Track - Desert Snow
K&L’S TOP TRACKS OF DECEMBER
Kendall -
Don’t Get the Deal - beabadoobee
For all of those relationships that you can never tell what’s going on.
A Change Of Heart - The 1975
A raw depiction of falling out of love with someone you saw for more of what you wanted them to be, and not for who they really were.
Free Now - Live From Vevo - Gracie Abrams
“Never been less empty, all I feel is free now” A song about letting go.
Lari -
Sweet Boy - Malcolm Todd
Malcolm is an up-and-coming musician “best known for his warm, alternative R&B sound.” Sweet Boy is a bop!
i love you - Billie Eilish
An acoustic love ballad from her debut album so heart wrenching that it got even Billie choking up when performing it live.
Heavy - The Marías
“‘Cause I don’t wanna be in love with another, even in another life.” Wow.
While Heavy commonly gets mistaken for a love song, it’s more so about fighting mental health battles, isolation, and the feeling of drowning in struggle. Whatever you may be going through, this song will speak to you. Just know you’re not alone.
CONCERT RADAR (JANUARY)
Beach Bunny - Turner Hall Ballroom (1/24)
