ALBUMS

ALBUM #1: Forever is a Feeling by Lucy Dacus
Wow. This album is truly a masterpiece. This album tells the story of Dacus working through her feelings for fellow bandmate of boygenius, Julian Baker. With features from both her, Phoebe Bridgers, and Hozier, each song on this album is better than the last. The instrumentals and Lucy’s stunning vocals make for a magical album.

ALBUM #2: Backflips in a Restaurant by grentperez

In his debut studio album, grentperez’s unique voice is comparable to a combination of Laufey and Conan Gray, charming and melodic. Backflips in a Restaurant is playful as the name suggests with an indie feel to it. His flow is unbelievably good and pairs amazing with the thorough production.

“I wanted to stretch my legs [musically] a little bit while remaining rooted in this croonery type of world, and that’s essentially what I did with it. That’s kind of like the backflip. A restaurant’s really romantic; it’s also home to many different flavours, and that’s much the same with the music.” - grentperez

ALBUM #3: Equus Asinus by Men I Trust

You can never go wrong with Men I Trust. This album has a very chill vibe, perfect for studying. Men I Trust lean into their “dream pop” sound, which they have really perfected with this album.

K&L’S TOP TRACKS OF MARCH

Kendall -

“Ever Seen” by Beabadoobee

Beabadoobee never misses! This adorable song is sure to put you in a better mood. This is How Tomorrow Moves, where this song comes from, is a near-perfect album, and this song is no different!

“Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus” by Taylor Swift

Such a beautiful song. The simple instrumentals paired with Swift’s lyrics make for a heart wrenching song. One of her most raw, transparent songs, this song gives listeners a look into Swift’s perspective on her past love affair with The 1975 frontman, Matty Healy. Not only do I recommend this song, I recommend the entire TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY album, which gives an even more in depth analysis of their relationship, and Swift’s grievances throughout the whole affair. Although The 1975 is my favorite band of all time, this song really makes me reconsider that.

“I’d Have to Think About It” by Leith Ross

For all of the yearners in the world, this song is for you. In this song, Leith Ross talks about getting over a past lover, but is unsuccessful. Even if they had a home with three kids, and their past lover asked them to leave, they still would “have to think about it.” “I love you more than my future spouse,” and “You are my Achilles’ heel / The weakness only I can feel” are just some of the most heartbreaking lyrics in this song, and possibly of all time. Leith, if you're reading this, I hope you get better soon.

Lari -

“Hell of a Life” - Kanye West

This song started playing while I was having a bad moment. I had forgotten about it. By the time the song ended, I felt a hundred times better. Call it divine timing!

“Only Girl” - Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Vince Staples

What a collab!!! This true triple threat entered the studio with nothing but a hook and left with an absolute banger. “Only Girl” is catchy and bound to get stuck in your head for days, and you won’t be complaining.

“THOUSAND MILES” - The Kid LAROI

LARI loves The Kid LAROI. Although “Album 2022” did not manifest, I sure hope his next one comes out right away. As someone that knows his entire discography, there is never a miss on LAROI’s albums, but you can always tell when a song is going to do numbers as a single, and looks like LAROI knew it too. “THOUSAND MILES” is exactly that.
