SAS athlete Johnathon Brom, a freshman, started SAS in 8th grade and has continued to be a dedicated member of the after school program.  Brom has been selected as SAS Athlete of the Month by SAS coach Justin Seely, along with the other coaches. Seely says, “Johnathon works with a good group of guys that seem to really enjoy training together and help push each other.”

Born in Watertown and joining the Hamilton district in the 6th grade, Brom enjoys watching football and baseball (the Lions and Brewers are favorites) and has played many sports throughout the years.  Baseball is his favorite sport to play, and he plays the positions of first base and catcher. In his free time, he also enjoys hunting and fishing.

As an athlete, Brom has experienced success and is no stranger to hard work.  He’s won three league championships in baseball and one each in volleyball and football.  When asked how SAS has improved his athleticism, Brom replied, “I’ve definitely gotten much faster and stronger, which was the main goal going in.”

Brom started participating in SAS because he “wanted something to do so that I wasn’t sitting around, and since I only play a spring/summer sport, I figured I might as well get some activity.” Having a mindset like this is why Brom was selected as Athlete of the Month.

Seely says, “Brom is willing to embrace the process and take coaching.  For a young guy, he is really showing huge strides in improving both his sprint and weight room technique.” According to Seely, going to SAS can be a great way to get in a quick, resourceful workout. With the constant coaching and work ethic that SAS athletes have, no day is ever wasted.

Doing SAS has helped Brom stay fit in the off season of baseball. Though SAS is a good program that is catered to athletes’ individual needs, it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with the changing pace. Brom says, “Some of the drills are difficult, but the coaches and my peers help me through it.” Brom is a great athlete and will continue to grow, and SAS has helped him in many ways that he says have helped him grow with speed and strength. This helps him prepare for when the baseball season comes around in the spring.

As for future SAS athletes, Brom has this to add: “I’d tell them that it’s a great environment full of encouragement and help. The coaches are very supportive and helpful. You won’t be judged on anything, and it’s a lot of fun!”
