SAS athlete Maryssa Goetz, a sophomore at Hamilton High School, was selected as the November SAS athlete. Outside of SAS, Maryssa plays volleyball and has been participating in SAS since her freshman year at Hamilton. Goetz says, “SAS has helped me because it’s motivated me to workout more often than I used to. I workout every day now.”

Goetz was chosen by Coach Justin Seely as the November Athlete of the Month. Goetz says she was originally going to SAS for volleyball, but then it turned out to be something where she could work on everything that SAS has to offer, which is why she continues to go now. Goetz says, “I just always wanted to go to SAS because I enjoy it, so now I go every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.”

SAS is a great way to get in a multi-functional workout with great benefits, some of which helping stay fit for sports, and getting a good workout in with feedback from peers and coaches. Goetz says that she doesn’t really struggle with any part of SAS now, but when she started back in her freshman year, she could hardly lift the bar and had no idea what many of the lifting techniques and lifts in general were. Now, she can power through more weight lifting and new lifts, which is why SAS is such a great program for growth. “There’s always spots for me to grow,” says Goetz, which is one of the many reasons she is such a great athlete.

When asked what she would say to someone to convince them to join SAS, Goetz replied, “I am able to add weights and push myself. I love going to SAS because I have a lot of fun and I do it with friends, which makes it even better. I have really started to enjoy lifting and working out, a lot more than anything. I love pushing myself and watching myself grow. So, I suggest that you try it out because you will definitely enjoy it.”

SAS is a popular Hamilton program with lots of opportunity for personal growth, so it is highly encouraged for people who want to physically better themselves. Coach Seely, among other coaches, would love to see you there and help you on your journey to physical greatness. Goetz says, “My favorite part of SAS is after agility, when we get into the weight room and start lifting. My favorite workout is the front squat because I have really seen myself grow with that lift.”

Finally, in a quote from Coach Seely about the November athlete of the month, he states: “The trait that I feel serves her best is her consistency. She absolutely works her tail off day in and day out. She consistently brings outstanding effort and is always coachable. Since her freshman year Maryssa has done things the right way. She's willing to learn proper technique and then once she has mastered a movement pattern she is confident enough in herself to challenge her personal comfort zone.”
