Ava Goetsch and Isabelle Ramirez are seniors on Hamilton’s Dance Team. They have been major contributors to their successful seasons for the past four years and are excited to continue her athletic career after high school!

Alex Turner, senior, says of Goetsch, “Ava is so incredibly dedicated to dance and it truly shows through her performance. I have seen her grow so much through the last four years and she has always strived to improve her skills, not only for herself, but also for her team. She always knows the right thing to say to motivate people and I am so proud that she will be continuing to dance in college. It has been a pleasure having her as a teammate and friend. I know she will do amazing things.”

Addi Stieglitz, junior, describes Ramirez as “one of the most dedicated dancers I have ever met in my career. She has been my role model ever since I joined Chargerettes and I am beyond honored that I got to share the stage with her for a few years. I know she is going to do amazing things in college and I cannot wait to be her biggest cheerleader next year.”

Isabelle Ramirez:

What school are you committed to? Why this school?

I committed to Marquette University. I chose this school because of their amazing nursing program and since my dad and aunt went to Marquette as well, so it has always had a special place in my heart.

I am committed to Marquette University. I chose Marquette because of the great academic programs they offer, they have widely known athletics, and because they have a strong community of people within their campus.

What is your intended major?

My intended major is nursing with the hope of getting a job as a pediatric nurse!

I will be majoring in marketing.

What experiences do you feel that you’ve had, whether it be through Hamilton or through any other clubs, that you feel have prepared you for playing a sport in college?

Hamilton Chargerettes gave me the experience of dancing hip hop, something my old dance studio didn't focus on, and learning how to embrace school spirit. However, I also think the time I spent at my All Star dance studio allowed me to gain the jazz technique I carried with me through high school, and tryouts, and the turn technique that I have needed throughout my entire dance career. Finally, I think my ballroom experience over the last three years has allowed me to build my endurance and ability to pick up choreography quickly.

I think the competitiveness of high school dance has really helped to prepare me for college dance. While I was on Chargerettes, we spent a lot of time working together to problem solve within our routines so that we could put our best foot forward for each competition or performance. We all wanted to do our best, so we worked very hard with a successful mindset in order to accomplish our goals. We had a long 11-month season that consisted of practices four days a week, every week. All the long hours only helped to prepare me even more for college dance.

Who is your biggest inspiration in your sports endeavors or a person you would like to shout out and why?

My biggest inspiration has to be all the girls who went to dance in college from my All Star dance studio. Being able to see girls ahead of me going to pursue their dreams of dancing in college was so inspirational and really allowed me to feel that I could do the same thing. I would also just like to shout out to my family for pushing me to constantly do my best and constantly encouraging me even when things got hard.

My biggest inspirations in dance include my teammates and my family. My team has always supported me and has helped shape me into the dancer I am today. I truly believe that my work ethic and abilities would not be the same without the experiences I’ve shared with them. Adding on, my family has always pushed me to be the best athlete that I can be. They’ve taught me how to stay resilient and that hard work always pays off. Without these important people, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
