Hamilton’s Charger Press recently switched to an online format, and now we’re reaching more people than ever before. Students throughout the district as well as parents and members of the community are able to read our articles more easily than ever. Aside from being able to share your skills with so many people, becoming a member of our club can help you develop skills in writing, editing, leadership, photography, graphic design, and more!
What Can You Do With Us?
Charger Press has many roles to fill, and we’re always looking for more interested students to join our team. You can also join as a combination of these roles, and many of our current staff members are already involved with many of them.
A major role on our team is being a staff writer, and we need writers for many different subjects such as sports, opinions, news, interviews, and various featured topics. News writing differs from the type of writing done for essays in class, so it is a unique skill to learn that you can develop through joining our team. If you want more details and information about how you can learn to write journalistically, one of our members is putting together a presentation about the topic and can answer any questions you have. Email gerosar@hamiltonstudents.org to ask for this information and you should receive a quick reply!
You can also help as an editor, which will allow you to develop skills that you can use for the rest of your life in anything that you write. This role allows you to get better at giving constructive feedback and build your ability to improve your own writing as well as that as others.
Another role is a photographer, who helps take pictures for the articles featured on the website. Many students in this role are also involved in other aspects of the club, and you can build your photography skills and put them to use while also improving your other journalistic abilities.
There are many other roles on our team, such as managing our social media and keeping up our website and working with graphic design. If you are interested in any of these specific areas or just want more information to see if you want to join, contact gerosar@hamiltonstudents.org, or kuhlcor@hamiltonstudents.org. Thanks for your potential interest, and we hope you decide to give the Charger Press a try!
