Appreciating Our Seniors

This year, our seniors have been huge contributors in making our paper a success, whether they held leadership positions, helped design our website into what it is now, helped with our editing process, or wrote articles for the club. Our 2020 graduates who have contributed to this club helped make the Charger Press what it has become are Dorie Palmer, Tate Hutchinson, and Emily Berger. Charger Press would like to individually thank each of these seniors and share their future plans.

Dorie Palmer has been a cornerstone in the success of the Charger Press this school year. She helped us through the process of building our website and even had an independent study each school day where she spent time working on the Charger Press. After our site was unveiled, she continued to lead the club, publish articles on the website, edit the articles of many other students and give them advice, and even write many pieces of her own. The Charger Press would certainly not be where it is right now without Dorie’s help and leadership, and we thank her for all of the work that she has done. Dorie has also avidly participated in many other aspects of Hamilton High School, and just this winter she starred as Puck in the school’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also participates in leading the school’s book club and partakes in competitions such as Battle of the Books, an activity that fits in well with her love for reading. A wonderful, energetic, kindhearted person, we know that Dorie will go on to do many amazing things in the future. She says that, “Next year, I will be attending UW-Madison and majoring in English.” We wish her luck in everything to come and thank her for all that she’s accomplished!

Tate Hutchinson has numerous important contributions to the Charger Press this school year and has been a part of helping with many aspects of the club such as graphic design, editing the articles of many other students, and writing many pieces of his own, especially focusing on sports-related events throughout the year. Tate has contributed to the Charger Press in many ways and has been one of the most frequent and consistent writers in the club, so we thank him for all the work that he has done for the success of the Charger Press. In regards to Tate’s future, he stated, “I will be attending Grinnell College this upcoming fall, likely pursuing topics in the natural sciences or engineering.” Also a member of the school’s robotics team and a mentor of younger students in the district’s middle school teams, it comes as no surprise that Tate is moving forward with such a career path. Tate is a wonderful student with a great love of learning who has contributed greatly to every activity he has been a part of in his high school career, and we wish him luck in everything to come!

Emily Berger has been an important contributing member to the Charger Press this past school year, and she has written wonderful articles and helped with editing those of other students. She has explored pieces in multiple subjects such as detailing the history of a holiday, an opinion of standardized testing, and a news piece about a faculty member. We appreciate all of the contributions that she has made to our club, as well as everything else she has done for both our school and entire community. She has been a participant in numerous activities throughout her high school career such as being a ski instructor at Little Switz, a volunteer at HAWs, a member of Hamilton’s forensics team, and a member of the school’s the Spanish and science clubs. All of these pursuits have led her to a bright future, and Emily says, “I’m excited to attend John Hopkins University and I’m majoring in computer science! I’m interested in going into cyber security or something else computer related.” Emily is an amazing person with many accomplishments, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. We thank her for everything she has done already and wish her luck in everything to come!
