This fall, the Hamilton Drama Society is bringing the classic children’s story Number the Stars to the Hamilton stage. The cast and crew have been working since September on this timeless story about friendship, love, and bravery during the time of WWII.
The story follows two best friends, Annemarie Johansen (senior Maddie Hatfield) and Ellen Rosen (Lilly Peterson) as they navigate the tragic events of the Holocaust. The story brings the two girls closer as they protect each other and their families from the evil that the Holocaust brings to their innocent lives.
The Drama Society is honored to bring this story to the Hamilton stage, as it gives many students the opportunity to bring such an important part of history to life.
Sophomore Emma Suneja, who plays Samuel Hirsch, says, “In learning about our history through the drama stage, we are able to better understand the events that shaped who we are today.”
Senior Jill Arthur, who plays Mrs. Rosen, says, “It has been wonderful to see all of the new members of the drama program come into their own in this show. We are telling a very important story that any audience would be lucky to see!”
The drama society’s fall show is often where many new members are able to join the cast and crew. Number the Stars welcomes five new members to the drama family!
Assistant Director Logan Wroblewski, a Hamilton alumnus, says, “It has been great to be back at Hamilton to work with such a talented group of people, and I believe they will continue to grow throughout the rest of the year.”
The group will hit the stage this Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 7 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM. Be sure to come and support the cast and crew of this timeless story!
