Nick Brauhn, currently a senior at Hamilton, has been playing baseball for 11 years. He recently committed to playing baseball for the University of St. Thomas.

Brauhn’s teammate, senior Nate Glapa, says this about him: “Nick has been my best friend on and off the field for a while. One thing I can say about Nick is he works hard at everything he does and is determined to make it happen!”

One of his current high school coaches, Coach Shramic, also says about Brauhn, “Nick is an extremely hard worker.  He is very passionate about baseball and has done everything in his power to put himself in this position.  I am so happy for him.”

How long have you been playing?

Since t-ball started in 2013 and I played Coach Pitch in 2014, so 11 years now. Baseball has been a game changer for me. Through all the ups and downs there has never been a time I wanted to be done. It was always get back up and get after it, always trying to push myself harder to achieve my goals and dreams.

What is your favorite memory from baseball?

Traveling across the country with my travel ball team and making memories with all sorts of different teammates.

What do you think is your favorite/best baseball goal you've accomplished?

Hitting my first home run!

What will you miss most about playing for Hamilton?

Playing with my friends that I went to school with and would always hangout with.

How has baseball impacted your life?

It has made me make tons of friends and memories. Being a 2 team on one summer was very difficult but managing it and taking it all in made it the best; having great coaches and great teammates have made my summer fun.

What is one lesson you've learned from baseball?

There are going to be bad days and good days; don't have one bad game affect the whole season.

What was the recruitment process like for you?

It has been a long process getting looks from all different divisions. Waiting until March was not ideal, but talking to schools and figuring out what the best place is and where I can call it home for the future is what mattered. What I can say is there is always a plan and you just have to relax and let it work out.

What is one thing that a coach has told you that you will carry into playing in college?

Always be positive and stay positive because good things happen when you're not thinking negatively.

What advice do you have for younger players?

Always practice as hard as you can and give your best effort; the dedication and hard work pays off in the future.

What are you most excited about next year playing for St. Thomas?

Being with my future teammates and just playing the game I love is what I can't wait for; the city and the school is just awesome.

Is there anyone you’d like to give a positive shoutout to who has been instrumental in your journey?

Firstly God for watching over me and creating this wonderful path, but secondly, my family and friends for how much they have sacrificed and took time out of their days to take me places to help me get better!
