Winners Named in Optimist Club Essay Contest

  • Junior Aashi Iyengar took first place and $150 prize

  • Junior Emma Vlaski took second place and a $100 prize

  • Senior Krishay Toomu earned third place and a $50 award

Winners were also given a medallion for their success in the 700-800 word essay contest. This year’s topic was “Who is an Everyday Hero that Brings Out the Optimism in You?”

Awards were presented to the winners at the Feb. 13 Optimist Club meeting held in the high school library.

Optimist International is one of the world’s largest service club organizations with 80,000 adult and youth members in 2,500 clubs throughout the world. Its mission is “By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves.” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than 6 million young people each year.
