This week has shown that soccer is more than the Premier League and that we have a higher cause. Players like Mydrk met with Ukrainian children and funded the education of over 50,000 children. But with ten match days left to go, Matchday 28 looks to be the determining factor of the final standings. With eviscerating matches being played between Manchester City and Liverpool, we turn to the field.
The Game of the Week
Manchester City (19-5-3) v Liverpool (19-6-2)
Liverpool: With Jurgen Klopp set to step down as Liverpool's head coach at the end of the season, the team aims to make this year a memorable one. Currently leading the Premier League by a single point over Manchester City, this clash between the two giants holds immense value. Neither side will settle for a draw, as the title race intensifies.
On one side, Liverpool's Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, has been in a goal-scoring drought recently, and Klopp may consider changes to his starting lineup. One player who could benefit is the highly-rated Japanese midfielder, Wataru Endo, who has impressed with his skill and quality in recent appearances.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola's City has been plagued by key mistakes and missed opportunities, resulting in unexpected losses against teams like Aston Villa. However, Guardiola is a grand tactician, and he will undoubtedly have his side well-prepared for this crucial encounter, which may force defenders like Manuel Akanji and John Stones to adapt their approach.
With both managers boasting extensive experience in this high-stakes rivalry, and Klopp holding the advantage at Anfield, this clash promises to be an enthralling affair. Fans can expect an all-out battle as these two titans of soccer race for supremacy and the coveted Premier League title.
Chelsea (10-6-10) v Newcastle (12-4-11)
Newcastle: It's a clash between two teams with two different tales, as Chelsea host Newcastle United on Matchday 28 of the Premier League. The Blue Devils have endured a rough season stained by inconsistency and constant managerial changes, while Newcastle have skyrocketed under Eddie Howe's guidance.
Chelsea's failures have been well-documented, with their current 11th-place standing as a shell of their expectations. Players like Mydrk and other star players are yet to make a difference. In an attempt to build a superteam, Chelsea has found themselves with millions of dollars in debt and no super team in sight.
On the other hand, Newcastle United have been the season's expectations, defying pre-season expectations to mount a serious challenge for a Champions League spot. They currently occupy eighth place with 40 points. Eddie Howe's side has been particularly formidable on the road. Their recent 3-0 victory over the Wolves proved to be a good choice in terms of managers. Chelsea will be desperate to halt their slide and potentially revive their fading hopes of success, but Newcastle's coordination could prove too much for the Blues' breakable defense. With the likes of Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier, and the in-form Callum Wilson leading the charge, Newcastle has the firepower to win.
