HHS Students Earn Awards at SkillsUSA State Competition
Hamilton High School students competed at the SkillsUSA Wisconsin’s 50th annual State Leadership and Skills Conference April 25-26 in Madison. Nine Hamilton students took part in five different contests including cabinetmaking, computer numerical control (CNC) milling, teamworks, welding and woodworking display.
The following students competed:
Scott Durian – gold in CNC milling
Jacob Winter – gold in woodworking display, silver in cabinetmaking
Frederic Schomann – bronze in CNC milling
Tanner Rogowski – sixth place in welding
Ryan Nettesheim – ninth place in welding
Jacob Wilson, Andrew Swope, Nathaniel Behrndt, and Joel DeLonge - fourth place in teamworks
Durian will advance to the national competition this June in Atlanta to compete against other first-place high school finishers from around the country.
SkillsUSA is an organization for students interested in pursuing careers or expanding their knowledge in skilled trades. Over 80 different contests are available in the state of Wisconsin. In its seventh year as a chapter, Hamilton’s team is advised by Applied Engineering and Technology teachers Alan Mamerow, Joe Premo, Tom Schlueter, and Chad McLaughlin.
