Once again, this year Hamilton HOSA participated in the annual Wisconsin HOSA State Leadership Conference. For the first time this year, we brought our affiliated middle school chapter, Templeton, with us. We had a total of 37 students representing Hamilton at SLC, with three of them being middle school students.

The students immersed themselves in a three-day experience at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. On the first day, many students competed in their events through exams, presenting, and showcasing their skills. That night, there were various break-out sessions such as “Dare to Diagnose,” a play on words of this year’s international HOSA theme, “Dare to Create”. This session was led by the International HOSA Officer, Tristen Rothrum from Minnesota HOSA. This session included presenting members with real-life medical cases and a bank of diagnosis options to select from.

The next morning, there were engaging morning sessions such as jogging, zumba, and more. Students were able to attend the HOSA expo where various health professionals and companies set up tables to inform students of their programs and opportunities. The water park and spa were also popular spots for many members! The evening ended with the recognition session where many Hamilton students were recognized for their outstanding work in HOSA. The Barbara James Service Award recognizes students who have committed at least 75 hours of service toward healthcare-related causes. The recipients of this award included Aadhi Balaji, Nolan Doherty, and Ishani Shastri at the silver level, and Nika Stacy at the gold level for contributing over 100 hours of healthcare-related service to the community. The following students were recognized for achieving an extraordinary score on the “Healthcare Issues'' recognition event: Chelsie Nwanosike, Diya Raghunath, Aathikha Somi Ashok Kumar, Emmy Schmidt, Karthik Anem, Alana Roskopf, Nehaa Arul Doss Susithraa, Lahari Gurram, Riya Mathews, Sydney Peperkorn and Yazhini Arvazhagan. Lastly, for the fourth consecutive year in a row, Hamilton HOSA is once again represented on the state executive council with Nehaa Arul Doss Susithraa elected as the State Vice President of Public Relations! The evening ended with the annual HOSA dance for high school members and a movie night for middle school students.

The final day consisted of the awards ceremony in which several middle and high school students from Templeton and Hamilton were recognized.
