Tyler Sage, currently a senior at Hamilton, has been playing soccer for as long as he can remember. He recently committed to playing college soccer at UW-Stevens Point.
Sage’s teammate, Asher Roth, says about him, “ I was very happy when I found out Tyler committed to Stevens Point. Whenever I have needed support whether it is on or off the field I can turn to Tyler. He is always positive and helps me as a player and person. Tyler is not just a great player on the field but also a great person and friend off the field.”

How long have you been playing?
I've been playing soccer since I was a little kid, as long as I can remember.
What is your favorite memory from soccer?
My favorite memory has to be our playoff run in junior year. The team bond was incredible, and the bus rides home after a win were unforgettable.
What do you think is your favorite/best soccer goal you've accomplished?
My biggest goal throughout my soccer career has been to earn a college offer and commit, but along the way, I’ve always focused on improving as a player too.
What will you miss most about playing for Hamilton?
I’ll definitely miss the friendships I’ve built with my teammates over the last four years and all the memories we’ve shared on and off the field.
How has soccer impacted your life?
Soccer has taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and mental toughness. It’s shaped the way I approach challenges in every part of life.
What is one lesson you've learned from soccer?
The biggest lesson soccer has taught me is that success requires working together.
What was the recruitment process like for you?
It started when I attended a College ID camp. After that, the coach reached out to request some film and invited me to a call. From there, I got invited for an official visit, which eventually led to receiving an offer to play for them.
What is one thing that a coach has told you that you will carry into playing in college?
A coach once told me that the difference between good and great players is how hard you’re willing to work when no one’s watching. That’s stuck with me, and I’ll take that mindset into college.
What advice do you have for younger players?
Never stop working on your game. Stay humble, listen to your coaches, and always be open to learning new things.
What are you most excited about next year playing for UW-Stevens Point?
I’m really excited about the increased level of competition, and I can’t wait to bond with my new teammates and grow as part of the team.
Is there anyone you’d like to give a positive shout out to who has been instrumental in your journey?
I’d like to give a huge shout out to my parents for supporting me every step of the way in my soccer journey. Also, a big thank you to all of my coaches for pushing me to be my best and believing in me.
