What is Charger Press?

Charger Press is Hamilton’s version of a school newspaper. We keep the student body up to date on school news, world events, pop culture, and really, whatever topics our writers are passionate about!

  • Charger Press, last year, reached 60,000 viewers INTERNATIONALLY.

  • A number of our publications regularly reach hundreds of views, some even topping a thousand.

What does Charger Press do for you?

Charger Press is a great way to channel your creativity, share your passion about a topic, express an opinion you want to share, or give recognition to something, or someone,  within our community you feel deserves it.

  • Not to mention, Charger Press is GREAT for college applications, as it shows extracurricular academic involvement and builds communication skills.

Take it from some of our writers:

  • “My experience with Charger Press has been exceptional. It’s provided me with a platform to express my creativity freely…Even as a student, I’ve been able to address important issues within our school community. I think someone should join Charger Press if they are interested in more opportunities to write. Whether that be writing about a new show that just came out, talking about a school issue, or even what is happening in the news at the time, Charger Press has many opportunities for a student to express their creativity. Also it’s run by the best teacher soooo…” - Nika Stacy, Staff Writer

  • Charger Press is a great creative outlet that gives kids an opportunity to talk about anything that interests them. From politics, to film, sports, and even fiction writing I truly believe there’s something for everyone in Charger Press!” - Violet Rhoades, Staff Writer and former Social Media Manager

How do I join?

You can join through our Remind by entering the following code into the Remind app or texting it to 81010

  • chargerpre

Stop by Mrs. Kowalske’s classroom (E174) or email her (kowasa@hamilton.k12.wi.us) to talk more about joining!

How do I get my first article published?

  1. Getting an article started is incredibly simple; simply email our club advisor, Mrs. Kowalske, to let her know what topic you’ll be writing about.

  2. Then, you actually have to write! This includes any research necessary, conducting an interview, sending out a form for input, or watching the movie you’re doing a review on!

  3. Once you have a draft written, simply send it in to one of our Editor-in-Chiefs for some editing and revision! This could include some back and forth but is normally a pretty quick process.

After all that, your first article is ready to be posted by one of our editors!

What if I want to share a form of art that isn’t writing?

Lucky for you, we have a Creative Corner. Any student can submit a drawing they’ve done, a story they’ve written, a photo they’ve taken, or pretty much any form of self expression that is represented digitally to be posted on our website alongside all of our informative articles.

We hope to have some of you join our staff soon!
