What does inclusion mean to you? To members of Hamilton Best Buddies, inclusion means actively choosing to love and accept everyone for who they are. Members of the club organize and attend activities throughout the year involving students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to advocate for inclusion in their school and community.
A couple weeks ago on Saturday, May 21st, Hamilton Best Buddies hosted their second annual Friendship Walk at Grove Field. Friends, family, teachers, and students were invited to walk around the track to spread awareness for inclusion and raise money for the Best Buddies organization. Participants were asked to donate money to the organization when they registered for the walk. Hamilton Best Buddies raised a total of $3,260.00, coming in 5th place for teams who raised the most money!
At the walk, people were given raffle tickets for completing laps around the track. There were also yard games to play, as well as upbeat music to keep participants energized as they made their laps. Following the walk, donuts and muffins were served, and the raffle winners were announced! Below are several pictures from the event.
