The Hotel

All alone in a creaky old hotel
Cooped up, surrounded by snow on all sides
A family all alone in this cell
A prison inn with dark, haunted insides
A father, writes his play near a hot fire
A mother, wants the best for her sole joy
The son, knows of evil that will conspire
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”
Of the possible shine in all of us
Danny, the boy of five, shines the most
He senses his dad's insane fuss
The hotel using his father as host
Evil, abuse, addiction in us all
It rips families apart, big or small
A Shakespearean sonnet based upon the book/movie the Shining by Stephen King.
