Paralysis
In the dead of night
I lay in my dark, black room
With eyes open wide
A shadow lurking
A man, a beast, a vision
Standing there silent
It trudges closer
Looming over me, I wait
Unable to move
*For the haiku “Paralysis,” iIt is one of my fears that I will wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to move, while something lurks in my room.
Lost
College scholarships
My perfect athletic health
The love of my life
I look at the road
Showing the past of my life
All of these things lost
Down the drain of life
Are these things that could have been
Heroin broke me
*For the “Lost” haiku, I was reading an article about someone's story with drugs and It inspired me to write this about how drugs can ruin your life.
Stalker
I know about you
You do not know about me
But I still love you
My eyes locked on you
I follow you down the street
Hoping you will see
You don’t notice me
Staring into your window
Hoping for my chance
The “Stalker” haiku is based on a song called "I Will Posses your Heart" by Death Cab For Cutie. Another one of my fears is being stalked by someone, especially because I'm a woman. So a haiku written from the perspective of the stalker is something interesting I wanted to try.
Life of a Star
I dreamed of big things
Moving to grand Hollywood
Becoming famous
Now I’m a big star
I have a model for wife
I live like a king
Forget about home
Forget the time spent alone
Forget about life
Divorce the wife
Choke on our vomit
And that is the end
It was just a joke
We were fated to pretend
Our life was a lie
*Based on a song called "Time to Pretend" by MGMT, this talks about the life of a rock star—how they are on top of the world only to miss the little things in life, and how they usually die young.
