The ACT practice test season is upon Hamilton students. On November 7th, Hamilton juniors will take the practice ACT from 7:20 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Students should report to their testing room with their advisement class. A student’s advisement teacher will disclose the advisement’s testing room on November 6th.
This practice test is free and prepares students for the real ACT, which all juniors will take in March. To effectively practice for the ACT exam, students must become accustomed to the ACT’s timing and question style. The following includes common ACT tips. It’s advised that students incorporate these tips into their practice ACT, so they can measure their effectiveness. Thus, on the real ACT, students will know which tips work for them.
1) Relax
The most important way to maximize your score is to take deep breaths. Stress will only distract you from clear thinking, so ensure that you are focused. You know the information; you just have to apply it.
2) Pace yourself
Pacing is often the hardest struggle of the ACT. Skip the problems you do not understand, so you can get correct answers on those you know how to do.
3) Recognize wrong answers
There are always answers that are not applicable. Even if you do not recognize the correct answer, you can guess based on the process of elimination.
4) Use the same letter when guessing
By using the same letter when you do not know the answer, you increase the probability that you get the answer correct. So, pick a letter for the day to increase your score.
The practice ACT prepares students for the real ACT. Try your best so you can fix any timing, problem-solving, or guessing issues you may have. By practicing, you will learn from your mistakes to maximize your ACT score!
