Battle of the Books is a yearly competition in which a Hamilton team participates. The grand battle is a test on 20 books that the team has read. The questions range from obvious answers to intricate details of the text, which requires in depth discussion between members. Throughout the year, the Hamilton team meets to discuss the books, attempting to gain maximum knowledge about the books’ plot and characters. Every year, the book list changes. However, the diverse selection of books never changes. There are always books from a multitude of genres–from nonfiction to graphic novels to fantasy–to guarantee enjoyment from every reader. The books are serious to downright bizarre; the characters are deplorable to heartwarming. Examples of this year's books were Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley, One of us is Lying by Karen M. McManus, and Gallant by Victoria Schwab. With these exemplary book options, Battle of the Books is a perfect club for avid readers!

Here are some descriptions of Battle of the Books from team members!

“While it’s reading a different variety of books and talking about them with other people, it’s also talking about books with people who love books!”
“Battle of the Books introduces me to a variety of genres and showcases many different authors and lesser-known books.”
“It is a fun club where I get to discuss books I never would have read in the first place, and meet others who have a similar interest as me!”
