Hamilton High School (HHS) Senior Tyler Breier has been awarded the Emergency Medical Technician Program Award from Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) for exhibiting overall excellence and leadership. Breier participates in the Dual Enrollment Academy (DEA) which provides high school seniors the opportunity to work in high-demand fields while earning college credit from WCTC.

“I am so appreciative and thankful for this opportunity to jump-start my career through the dual enrollment program,” said Breier. “The firefighter/EMT program was awesome! I learned a lot and the instructors were very helpful.”

The WCTC DEA helps ease the transition from HHS to post-secondary education, providing insight into college academics and a jump-start on apprenticeship programs. This initiative also gives business and industry access to a pipeline of new, well-trained talent.

“Tyler is an exceptional student,” explains Hamilton High School Business and Information Technology Teacher Sheila Frafjord. “He is mature beyond his years, incredibly driven and fully committed to excelling in his field. Tyler has taken full advantage of the opportunities at Hamilton High School, especially through our Dual Enrollment program and Work Experience class, to push himself even further,” Frafjord adds. “Watching him not only chase his dreams but exceed them has been truly rewarding. I have no doubt he’ll continue to do amazing things.”

Breier will graduate from WCTC in May. In June, he will graduate from HHS. He has already begun working at the Hartland Fire Department.
