This fall, Hamilton Drama brings to life the timeless classic, Little Women. The cast has been working nonstop since the second week of school in order to put together this story of friendship, love, femininity, and family.
The story follows the March sisters, Meg (Senior Sienna Johnson), Jo (Senior Lilly Peterson), Beth (Sophomore Livy Powell), and Amy (Junior Sydney Nicholas). It takes you through a year in their lives while their father is away serving in the Civil War and the family is left to fend for themselves. When tragedy strikes, they must rely on their community of friends and family for the little stability left in their lives.
Hamilton Drama is excited to bring such a well known story to the stage and hopes to have a large turnout from the community. They are also thrilled by the large number of underclassmen who are taking part in this production, and they hope to encourage more to take part as the year goes on.
Our wonderful cast and crew have been staying after school working long into the night in order to perform this show to the best of their ability. In between their practice-runs, we interviewed members of the cast and crew about how they’ve been liking the first performance of this season.
What has been your favorite part of this show?
“My favorite part of Little Women has been seeing all the new freshmen find their place. I think it's super important to be welcoming to new people in the theater otherwise no one can keep it going. I have loved seeing how different our community is this year with all the new people.” - Elena Stone, Lights
“My favorite part about little women is the people within the production. Everyone creates such a welcoming environment for everyone. I feel safe to be my complete self within the walls of the theater, I believe there is no other club out there in school that is as welcoming as the drama community. Being a part of this community, or family, has been one of the best decisions I've made yet.” - Sydney Nicholas, ‘Amy’
“This probably applies to all the shows, but I love the fact that the stage crew is so student run and how intertwined the cast and crew are, specifically in this show! Having some regular cast members get involved with crew is so funky and fresh.” - Colie Sobotta, Assistant Stage Manager
To the newbies, we asked: How have you been liking Hamilton Drama?
“Being a part of Hamilton Drama has been (and will be) amazing as everyone is so nice and happy. My favorite part so far has been meeting everyone, as they are some of the nicest people I have ever met.” - Robbie Schmidt, Ropes
“Love it. My favorite part is pretending to be Timothee Chalamet.” - Branson Barnes, ‘Laurie’
Little Women will open to the public on November 8th. Public performances are 11/8 at 7pm, 11/9 at 7pm, and 11/10 at 2pm. We hope to see you there! Let’s “PAC” the FAC!
