Writing Advice

More often should the point be brought to bear

Illustrated for students of the pen

To write prose which does not inflict despair

Efficiency, dear reader, is your friend

When possible avoid mincing your words

And with due eloquence condense your point

Use high adjectives to describe the world

Saying much with little marks the adroit

Don’t use passive voice when it is undue

For directness often marks better prose

Don't use descriptors you’ve already used

Avoid telling the reader things he knows

Then revise till your fingers fall away

And long enough has this point been conveyed

Goodbye

Goodbye
