The Daisies Endure

Poem by Sam Henderson

Follow me down this path.

There are cracked lines on the pavement.

Daisies in the cracks endure their wrath.

One on the left was a school where kids learned math.

The right holds a playground where they played enslavement.

Follow me down this path.

Continuing into the suburbs where the psychopaths

roam about, looking for a new ailment.

Daisies in the cracks endure their wrath.

The teens are pulling weeds and handling them to new lovers on the footpath.

Lovers take them even though they are lavement.

Follow me down this path.

Mothers walk into the house to start the bath.

Fathers get out of their trucks and walk into the enclavement.

Daisies in the cracks endure their wrath.

Almost to the start of the aftermath.

Where we end and start again on the movement.

Follow me down this path.

Daisies in the cracks endure their wrath.
